"Child Support is the right of the child and the responsibility

of both parents, not a chip won or lost by the custodial parent

from the non-custodial parent incident to a divorce."

- Justice Garibaldi writing for the New Jersey Supreme Court in  Pascale v. Pascale, 140 N.J. 585, 593 (1995).

Szaferman, Lakind, Blumstein, Blader & Lehmann , P.C.

The Szaferman, Lakind family law department is one

of the largest and most respected in central New Jersey.

The firm has handled complex divorce cases for families with

assets ranging $100,000 to $250,000,000.  Our level of

experience and sophistication allows us to handle tough,

complicated matters in a compassionate and professional

Brian is one of the few attorneys in New Jersey who has earned the

title Certified Matrimonial Law Attorney, meaning that our State's highest

has recognized him as an expert on divorce and family law matters.

In 2007, 2008 and 2009, after a selection process based upon peer voting

and credentials research aimed at identifying the top 5% of all attorneys

in the State of New Jersey, a blue ribbon panel named Brian a "Super Lawyer".

In 2009, the blue ribbon panel compiling the Super Lawyers list identified

Brian as one of the Top 100 Super Lawyers in New Jersey.  Brian is the

only Mercer County Family Law Attorney in the Top 100, and one of

of only two attorneys in the County to be included in the Top 100.

In 2006, Brian was honored to be included in the New Jersey Law Journal's

"40 under 40 list".  A copy of the article can be viewed here.

Brian practices exclusively in the matrimonial area of

the law, and successfully helps his clients with complex child

support, alimony, custody, parenting time and equitable

distribution issues.  A substantial portion of Brian's practice

is dedicated to handling all types of divorce/family law

appeals before New Jersey's appellate courts.  Brian

receives many referrals for family law appellate work

from other attorneys, which demonstrates their trust in his

ability to handle the most difficult and complex legal issues.

Brian serves as a panelist in both the Mercer and

Burlington County Early Settlement Programs, a

privilege reserved for the most experienced matrimonial

 attorneys in those two counties.

In 1999, Brian received national recognition for

his efforts in helping suspend a professional boxer's

boxing license in New Jersey for his failure to pay child

support. This is believed to be the first case in the

United States where a professional athlete's license has

been suspended for nonpayment of child support.
